Nearly three years after the completion of its highly acclaimed first season, Chainsaw Man is set to return this fall with its first full-length film. The hype surrounding the upcoming Reze Arc movie is immense, with long-time fans of the series excited to see one of its most beloved arcs on the big screen, and newer fans eagerly waiting for Denji’s story to continue.
However, despite all the buzz about the latest entry into the Chainsaw Man franchise, the series’ devoted community wants to know when to expect season two of the anime. News concerning a follow-up season has been relatively non-existent, and it’s likely to stay that way until the movie completes its time in theaters. Fortunately, though, MAPPA execs have finally given an update.
MAPPA CEO and VP “Have Plans” For Chainsaw Man
MAPPA Execs Are Looking Ahead With Chainsaw Man’s First Movie On the Horizon
MAPPA has had their hands full with a variety of projects, including the Reze Arc film, and haven’t exactly had the opportunity to touch on future releases beyond what’s directly ahead of them. Fortunately, Screen Rant’s own Anime Senior Editor, Evan Mullicane, had the opportunity to discuss upcoming works with MAPPA CEO Manabu Otsuka and Vice President Hiroya Hasegawa at Anime Expo 2025, where they touched on Chainsaw Man‘s future.
Regarding a second season, Otsuka said: “We obviously are thinking about it, we do have plans for what we want to do after the film. We really can’t say. We do have something in mind. We do have a best way of delivering whatever it is that comes next, but we really can’t say.”

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc is just a few months away, and it’s just released a brand-new trailer to get people more excited than ever.
It seems that details are still hush-hush, but MAPPA having a clear plan and direction for the future of the series is a good sign of what’s to come. The Reze Arc film has been in production for at least three years to this point, though it’s likely that behind-the-scenes changes delayed its original intended release window.
With an established plan going forward, fans have reason to assume the next wait for Chainsaw Man won’t be quite as long.
What Can Fans Expect From a Second Season of Chainsaw Man?
Any Continuation Beyond the Reze Arc Brings Chainsaw Man Close to Its Part One Finale
The Reze Arc is commonly seen as Chainsaw Man‘s turning point. Tatsuki Fujimoto’s original manga series truly finds its footing during the climactic section, and establishes itself as one of manga’s most exciting ongoing titles. Following it, only three major arcs will remain from Part One for MAPPA to animate.
Fans can expect a second season to cover the action-packed and emotional International Assassins and Gun Devil arcs, and for another full-length film to cover the Control Devil arc, seeing as there won’t be enough Part One material to fill another full season.
Chainsaw Man‘s return is just around the corner as fans prepare themselves for the Reze Arc movie, set to land in U.S. theaters on October 29, 2025. Fortunately, there will be more of Denji’s chaotic journey to come beyond the film, and MAPPA seems to have a clear plan for how to tackle the series’ future.
