2025 is coming to a close for Xbox Game Pass, and like PlayStation Plus, the cycle of free games and expired games will begin anew. It comes with the territory.
Before that happens, though, you can boot up one of 2025’s most popular Game Pass releases and enjoy a new build with a pretty substantial update, fully detailed on the game’s Steam page. Like a lot of the Game Pass games of the year, it’s one worth replaying.
Clover Pit Got A Nice New Update On December 22
Some Great Quality Of Life Changes
The tagline says pretty much everything you need to know about Clover Pit: “A rogue-lite slot machine nightmare. Gamble for your life in a never-ending debt simulator!” Stressfully, the game asks you to make enough money to pay off your debt daily, or it drops you to your death. Instead of just pulling a lever and praying, you’ll use items and charms that manipulate the slot machine and eventually try to escape.
While the game was straightforward to get into, some players took issue with the endgame scaling. That all changes with update 1.3, which is now live on Xbox. One of the most significant changes is a complete rework of hard mode. Now, it won’t fluctuate its deadline massively and will “scale gradually.” So the mode will still be a challenge, but will feel more fair. Memory cards have been thoroughly reworked as well, and Rainbow Holographic Cards are now permanently unlocked as rewards. Also, if you play Hardcore Mode, your rewards will be doubled.
Charms have been buffed across the board, and there are additional accessibility upgrades, such as reducing flashing lights and increasing text visibility for color-blind players. More minor “polish fixes” are also in tow. It’s the kind of update you love to see in a roguelite, as these games live and die by their replayability.

Given that the creators openly list Balatro and Buckshot Roulette as influences on the game’s Steam page, it makes sense why so many people would flock to it on Xbox Game Pass. For reference, it’s available for Game Pass Premium, Ultimate, and PC Game Pass.
It’s the kind of oddball offering that the service excels at, especially since indie visibility isn’t great on any given storefront. Either way, Clover Pit is a fantastic way to spend some time this holiday season, especially if you take to it and delve into the game’s hard mode and beyond.
