Explore A Haunted Hotel In This Quirky Adventure Game, Free Demo Out Now

At any point, I can reliably go on Steam and find something unique I want to try, and it inevitably ends up in my backlog. This time around, though, I think I’m going to make an exception.

Over on Steam, you can grab this enjoyable adventure that involves a cat, ghosts, and a hotel. It’s a perfect combination on paper, and a free demo is available right now, so you can check it out for yourself.

No Ghosts At The Grand Is Free To Try On Steam

You Can Play It Now Before It Comes Out

Couch and Ghost Room

There Are No Ghosts at the Grand had me at the title, but the fact that it’s free to try now on Steam is the kicker. From developer Friday Sundae, this part-relaxing, part-mysterious game tasks you with restoring a hotel haunted by ghosts. By day, you’ll restore the hotel (and the surrounding village) to its former glory, and by night, you’ll blast ghosts. It sounds like the kind of addictive game loop I could play for far more than 30 in-game days, which is the timer thrust upon you for story reasons.

Here’s the full breakdown of the game’s premise:

“Inherit a crumbling English hotel and restore it by day—while battling ghosts by night. With a sardonic cat, a talking power tool, and a twisting supernatural plot, this is a musical mystery unlike any other. Will you be able to hold it together while everything around you falls apart?”

When married to the beautiful art style that the game is showing off so far, it seems like a winner already. 2026 is already shaping up to be one heck of a year for gaming, and you can add this one to the pile. It’s rare for a game to show off a cute art style that also borders on sinister (once the Lovecraftian elements kick in), which is a massive accomplishment.

It’s One Of 2026’s Most Interesting-Looking Games

This One Is On My Radar

Greenhouse Room

Given that each character in There Are No Ghosts at the Grand has “their own story and song,” calling it one of 2026’s most interesting-looking games is an understatement. That’s right, songs are a core part of the game loop, as this is partly a musical. Other promised mechanics include playing minigolf, exploring the beach, or driving a fishing boat. It evokes a ’90s adventure game feel with a modern sense of polish.

There Are No Ghosts at the Grand has the same vibe as a quirky Suda51 experience, and I’m here for it. If you’re interested, head over to Steam and download the game now. We don’t get a ton of games like this these days, and I’ll be showing up to support it even before it’s out.
