Chris Hemsworth has returned as Thor, and his Avengers: Doomsday design is a fan-favorite. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has come up with a unique strategy to tease the story of the next Avengers movie. Instead of releasing a single teaser trailer, Marvel is slowly unveiling new character-focused teasers in theaters with Avatar: Fire and Ash to spotlight key players in Avengers: Doomsday‘s cast.
The first Avengers: Doomsday trailer focused on Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, making his MCU return after 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Now, the film’s second teaser is playing in theaters, and it is centered on Hemsworth’s Thor. Not only does it set up the character’s goal in the film, but it also reveals Thor’s design for the highly anticipated MCU movie, and it is perfect.
Marvel Has Revealed What Avengers: Doomsday’s Thor Looks Like
The Avengers: Doomsday Thor trailer comes with the reveal that Love, Gorr the God Butcher’s daughter and Thor’s new adopted daughter, also returns in the 2026 Marvel movie. She is quite important in the footage, as we see Hemsworth’s Thor praying to Odin, his father, for protection before he heads into battle, presumably against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
Thor wants to come home safe and sound to keep raising Love, cherishing the life they have together, and continuing to protect her. That is a sweet setup for the MCU movie, and Thor’s battle-ready look harkens back to a design MCU fans know well. Instead of having long blonde hair, Thor sports short, darker hair this time around.
Thor also dons what appears to be the sleeveless version of his Avengers: Infinity War suit, which he had on for a large portion of the 2018 film. Rather than use Mjölnir in the upcoming MCU movie, the new Avengers: Doomsday trailer sees the God of Thunder with Stormbreaker in hand.
How Avengers: Doomsday’s Thor Design Compares To His Other MCU Appearances?
Thor’s revealed design for Avengers: Doomsday is both exciting and somewhat confusing. The dark outfit dates back to his beloved Avengers: Infinity War appearance, which many fans remain adamant about being the best version of Thor in the MCU. However, it is also different from his last look in the franchise, down to his weapon of choice.
In Thor: Love and Thunder‘s ending, Hemsworth’s Odinson used Mjölnir, while his daughter, Love, had Stormbreaker in hand as they launched into battle together. Additionally, Thor’s suit was an updated version of the costume he wore in the film, with a black and gold design, no sleeves, and a red cape.
