My Hero Academia anime has finally ended after nearly 10 years. During this time, the anime introduced fans to several quirks. While each quirk has its own use, some are more scary than practical. This is not just because of how the quirk appears, but also due to how it can affect the user and those around them.
Below are 10 quirks from My Hero Academia that are so scary that they could belong in a horror movie. While many of these quirks are used by villains, and may give off the impression that they are scary due to the user, not all scary quirks are used by villains.
1
Blade-Tooth
Moonfish’s Blade-Tooth Quirk grants the user the ability to enlarge and reshape their teeth into sharpened incisors. The user can manipulate these teeth at will and break through tough surfaces.
If people felt that Edward Scissorhands’ appearance was unsettling in the 1990s movie, imagine a person with elongated teeth capable of piercing someone. The quirk user would not only look scary but would also be dangerous to stand next to.
2
Lizard Tail Splitter
Setsuna Tokage’s Lizard Tail Splitter Quirk allows the user to split their body into several pieces and control them using telekinesis. The split off pieces can be really small, allowing the user to evade their enemy’s attacks.
Floating heads and limbs are elements that are often seen in horror movies. So, it would not be surprising if someone were to get scared by Setsuna’s quirk. As such, her quirk could easily qualify for a scary movie.
3
Meatball Quirk
Seiji Shishikura’s Meatball Quirk grants the user the ability to manipulate raw human flesh. The user can not only manipulate their own flesh for offensive and defensive maneuvers, but also capture someone using their meat and roll them into a meatball, rendering them immobile.
Similar to the Lizard Tail Splitter, watching someone’s limbs float around would be a scary sight. However, what makes Meatball Quirk scarier is that it can render its target immobile, possibly giving someone the perfect sleep paralysis simulation.
4
Mimicry
Joi Irinaka’s Mimicry Quirk allows its user to transfer their body and mind into solid objects. After entering an object, the user can manipulate it as if it were their actual body.
The Mimicry Quirk is especially scary because of what it can be used to do. It is quite common in a horror movie for the characters to get separated from each other. Considering that Joi Irinaka does something similar in the anime, the quirk can be used for the same in a horror film.
5
Overhaul
Kai Chisaki’s Overhaul Quirk grants its user the ability to dismantle and reassemble anything with their bear hands. However, the user is under no compulsion to reshape or restore the living or non-living thing, and can leave it destroyed.
As one can assume, the Overhaul Quirk is very scary as a mere touch of a finger can leave a person destroyed. Therefore, if a person with Overhaul’s powers were present in a film, their presence is bound to make things scarier.
6
Bloodcurdle
Stain’s Bloodcurdle Quirk allows its user to temporarily paralyze their target by ingesting their blood. With this move, the user can instantly render someone immobile, allowing them to deal the final blow.
The Bloodcurdle Quirk might be the most menacing looking quirk. Imagine you are running away from someone, and the person can paralyze you by simply ingesting your blood. The quirk is not just scary due to the paralysis but also due to what may come after.
7
Transform
Himiko Toga’s Transform Quirk allows its user to transform into another person’s appearance after consuming their blood. After the Quirk undergoes an awakening, it grants its user the ability to also copy their target’s quirk.
The Transform Quirk is scary due to its possibilities. One of the scariest tropes in a horror film is when there is the possibility of an impostor. Imagine you are trying to run away from a possible enemy with a friend, but you later find out that you had been with the enemy all along. This not only spells danger for the target but also leaves them questioning what happened to their friend.
8
Decay
Shigaraki Tomura’s Decay Quirk, similar to Overhaul, grants its user the ability to destroy something or someone by just a touch. However, unlike Overhaul, which also allows its user to reassemble the target, Decay only destroys the target into dust.
As one might expect, the Decay quirk is terrifying and can act as the perfect weapon for a serial killer in a horror film. What makes it scarier is how, after turning into dust, there is likely no chance for the target to survive.
9
Foresight
Sir Nighteye’s Foresight Quirk allows the user to accurately predict their target’s future moves and actions for an entire hour. While the quirk may not seem scary, it could become terrifying from the user’s perspective.
Imagine if the protagonist of a horror movie happened to predict the death of their friend or ally with no information on when the event was set to take place. It would be only a matter of time before they become paranoid about wanting to save them.
10
Rewind
Eri’s Rewind Quirk grants the user the ability to reverse a living being’s body back to its previous state. While under normal conditions, the quirk may not seem scary, and could act as a way to heal someone, its overuse could erase someone from existence.
If the Rewind Quirk were to be used on someone extensively, the quirk would reverse the target’s body to the time before they were born, erasing them. As such, similar to Decay and Overhaul, Rewind can also be a very deadly ability.
