Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games are notorious for their secret areas that are often hidden randomly in several of their unique maps, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 is no exception. Usually, these “secret areas” aren’t all that secret once you explore the map a bit, and you’ll end up stumbling across them during normal gameplay if you’re looking closely. However, there are a handful of secret areas that are truly secret and will definitely require a bit of knowledge about the map, unless you happen to unlock them somehow accidentally.
One such secret area is a returning classic map from the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, Tokyo. Anyone who played the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 will likely remember this secret area, but might not remember exactly how to unlock it. If you never played the original, however, it’s likely you wouldn’t even realize this secret area existed at all. It’s well worth unlocking because this is a competition park and the secret area has some of the best spots for stringing together multiple combos and racking up a high score for Gold and eventually Platinum, once you’ve unlocked Pro Goals.
Where To Find Tokyo’s Secret Area In THPS 3+4
The Giant Neon Skater Sign Unlocks A Secret Area In Tokyo
Tokyo is a pretty small park in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 that is packed full of content, and it’s easy to miss if you don’t know where to look. Not only is there a secret area that is pretty tricky to unlock, but the Iron Galaxy Logo and other collectibles are in very obscure and hard-to-reach areas hidden out of plain sight. The secret area in Tokyo is located behind the giant neon skater sign in the center of the map, but you won’t be able to access it without performing a somewhat complicated trick.
You can unlock the secret area in Tokyo much easier if you use the Game Mods for Perfect Balance, but this might lock you out from getting certain trophies.
If you’re looking out from the starting location in Tokyo, you’ll see a huge glowing sign with a skater on it in the middle of the map to your left. Initially, you can jump up to this area, but there’s nothing very exciting to see if you haven’t unlocked the secret area yet. To do so, you need to perform a tricky set of grinds to knock down the neon sign and break open the wall behind it.
How To Unlock The Secret Area In Tokyo
Grind Up To The Sign Using The Wires & Building Ledges
To unlock the secret area in Tokyo, you’ll need to complete a series of tricky grinds. To start, you can perform a boneless on the neon ramp right next to the starting area and grind the rail connecting to the wire with the hanging lights. Grind across the lights to the first green neon marquee sign. From here, you’ll need to perform a wall grind and connect to the ledge with the main skater sign. Once you hit it, the wires holding it in place will snap, and it will fall backward, busting a hole in the wall behind it.

Now you have access to the secret area, which you can skate through the wall and access. This is a great location with much better options for performing combos that can be strung together for much higher scores than in the main area of the map. This area has a ton of excellent gaps that are easy to transfer back and forth across, and is your best bet for the Platinum once you’ve unlocked the Pro Goals in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4.
