Grand Theft Auto 6 is arguably the most anticipated game of 2026, after multiple delays kept pushing back its eventual release date. With enough luck, the game will still be on track to release this year to the many rabid fans keeping space for it on their systems. However, with the new year comes fantastic news surrounding GTA 6, especially considering how little we’ve known up until this point.
Now that the year of GTA 6‘s launch has finally come, we can look forward to many features finally being revealed. Reddit user niffum1 makes an excellent point in a post of theirs highlighting some of the content that hasn’t been shown off prior to 2026. With marketing rapidly moving along to meet GTA 6‘s release time frame, the hype for new information has far less of a waiting period.
We’re Getting GTA 6 Gameplay This Year
Move Past Cinematic Trailers To Show What Players Can Do
While some fans remain skeptical of GTA 6 not being delayed to 2027, information regarding gameplay is more than likely to appear this year. Even if more cinematic trailers are shown for the game’s story, at least one gameplay trailer in 2026 makes sense to keep players excited. It is doubtful that Rockstar Game’s marketing team would wait until GTA 6‘s launch trailer to show off what players actually do.
Based on previous marketing strategies from GTA 5, there are possibilities of gameplay being shown off in a pre-order trailer, some media news with groups who’ve been given gameplay previews, or from other teases shown by Rockstar.
Many gameplay theories for GTA 6 will get debunked the moment a trailer drops, but it’ll take multiple trailers to get the full scope of what the game offers. For example, one gameplay trailer might be solely focused on the gunplay of the game, while another is dedicated to the story and mission structure for either main protagonist.
Alternatively, the open world might take center stage, showing off little gameplay but plenty of the game’s sandbox. With the promise of being larger than GTA 5, the map for GTA 6 might also have its own focus in 2026 that would still show off gameplay players are looking forward to, such as vehicle mechanics for getting around.
Fans Are Already Losing It
Rapid Anticipation Has Everyone Excited For 2026
Any sort of gameplay reveal for GTA 6 will generate the hype for the game to insane levels, likely building up excitement to a fever pitch. Not every fan is optimistic that 2026 will be the year that GTA 6 gameplay gets shown off, but considering the current release date, others feel like it is a safe bet. No matter what, as the days count down closer to the current release of November 19, 2026, the eagerness will only get bigger.
Enough painful delays for GTA 6 does make any news surrounding it come with some nerves, as it could be pushed back again at any time. At this point, any information about GTA 6 is needed to keep the hype high, even if it’s just something as small as a trailer for the game’s pre-orders starting. That being said, gameplay is going to be the best way to convince players that 2026 is the real release year for this title.
Until gameplay is shown off, Rockstar’s latest project isn’t even a consideration for some fans, as it remains a nebulous title that doesn’t really launch until the far future. With the beginning of 2026, though, Grand Theft Auto 6 might get its flowers by keeping its release date built off many hype moments from throughout the year.
