Tom Hardy’s hit crime drama series, MobLand, is all set to return in 2026, and it is even more exciting this time because of one story update.
Both on the big and small screens, Tom Hardy is quite selective about the roles he picks. However, every time he shows up in a movie or show, he puts up such a brilliant performance that it is hard not to be completely blown away by his screen presence and ability to portray serious characters. The British actor leaves a similar impact with his performance in his ongoing crime drama, MobLand.
While Hardy’s performance will again be the primary appeal in MobLand season 2, it now has a story update that will make it even more compelling.
MobLand Season 2 Will Take The Story To Spain
Reports (via Collider) have revealed that La Fortalesa in Pollensa experienced a significant surge in filming activity for a one-week shoot of MobLand season 2. Even Mandeep Dhillon, who plays Seraphina Harrigans in MobLand, seemingly confirmed this filming location by posting an Instagram story that featured the Spanish town in Majorca in the background.
Although no reports suggest that other major stars from the show, like Tom Hardy or Pierce Brosnan, were spotted on the location, the show’s suggested filming location perfectly aligns with everything that has been revealed about the Guy Richie crime drama’s season 2 return so far.
In an interview (via THR), Tom Hardy hinted that the show could expand its vision to an international scale by exploring story beats that have already been touched in season 1. For instance, as Hardy pointed out, “the control of drugs, ammunition and weapons and people and all kinds of things” go through different parts of the world, which season 2 can portray to raise the stakes of its drama.
Check out his full statement about the show’s potential international story expansion below:
“The plan is definitely to see more seasons. The question is: Does it become international? There are international elements to organized crime, which are touched on in season one and the control of drugs and ammunition and weapons and people and all kinds of things that go through Europe and from Africa through to South America, Pakistan and the variable commodities that move around Europe. There are families that are involved in each European country that are vying for power to have that status to be able to move these kind of commodities through and who polices that and how that fits into a world stage.”
Why It Makes Sense For MobLand Season 2’s Conflict To Go International
Since the Harrigans overpower their local rivals in MobLand season 1, it makes sense for the show to outgrow its London setting and move into larger European and global areas. Even when it comes to Tom Hardy’s character, Harry, in particular, he lost his primary anchor in London after his wife stabbed him and demanded a divorce. The fall of his domestic life could prompt him to look beyond London.
The Tom Hardy crime drama has already touched on the logistics of moving commodities through Europe, with specific mentions of Antwerp and connections stretching from South America to Pakistan. As Hardy has already discussed, these developments would be perfect devices for MobLand season 2 to expand its predecessor’s story.
Not to mention, even Conrad Harrigan’s new partnership with Jamie Lopez could open the gates for the Harrigans to operate within the global supply chain in MobLand‘s upcoming season.
