Avengers: Doomsday may be teasing a major MCU character who debuted two years ago. Thanks to the recent X-Men-focused teaser, the tease may have come from Ian McKellen’s Magneto himself.
Of the four Avengers: Doomsday teasers that were recently released, the X-Men teaser is easily the darkest and most intense. Keeping that in mind, the first line we hear from Magneto may be teasing a very exciting character in the upcoming Avengers movie.
“Death Comes For Us All” — The X-Men’s Doomsday Trailer Is Pretty Foreboding
“Death comes for us all” is the very first line spoken in the X-Men’s Avengers: Doomsday teaser, immediately setting a grim mood as we see shots of the Xavier Mansion in ruins. Ian McKellen’s Magneto and Patrick Stewart’s Xavier discuss who they’ll be when they close their eyes and the end finally comes, while James Marsden’s Cyclops falls to his knees with Sentinels looming in the background.
While not uncommon, it does feel worth noting that the phrase isn’t new to the MCU (and was fairly recent). Likewise, that particular Doomsday line was used in connection with a specific character: Lady Death.
Will Avengers: Doomsday Feature The Return of Lady Death?
“Death comes for us all” was previously heard in 2024’s Agatha All Along, occurring right before Lilia Calderu’s sacrifice and her soul being claimed by Aubrey Plaza’s Lady Death, who made her full debut in the same episode.
Keeping that in mind, one does have to wonder if Doomsday’s teases of mass destruction and the end of everything will also result in Lady Death’s return as well. It would be fitting, especially if multiple deaths are in the MCU’s future with Doomsday and/or Secret Wars.
Regardless, Lady Death physically appearing onscreen might not matter when it comes to the weight of Magneto’s line and the loss of life that’s more than likely on the way in Avengers: Doomsday. Death will be coming either way (though who wouldn’t want to see Aubrey Plaza’s Lady Death on-screen again?).
Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18th from Marvel Studios.
