Ben Brosofsky has been writing for Screen Rant since 2022 and editing since 2024. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor’s in Cinema & Media Arts. Writing serves as a much-needed distraction from tackling a backlog of Steam games that will never be surmounted.

Cyberpunk 2077‘s video game sequel may still be a while off, but another follow-up is coming sooner. The next project is the official Cyberpunk Trading Card Game, and a comprehensive look at what it has to offer has finally arrived.

The newest REDstreams showcase from Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED focuses on the official Cyberpunk Trading Card Game, showing off cards, gameplay, and more. While the Cyberpunk universe is much older than 2077, the game ties directly into characters and concepts from the video game.

Cyberpunk 2077’s New Card Game Looks Excellent

The Cyberpunk Trading Card Game looks like a worthy tie-in, which isn’t particularly surprising in light of CD Projekt RED’s pedigree. The studio already managed a card game success in the form of The Witcher‘s Gwent, which started as a minigame before growing to a standalone digital offering and eventually a physical card game.

Surprisingly, the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game isn’t being handled by a veteran company. Instead, it’s happening at WeirdCo, a new company embarking on its first project. Not to worry, however: in a discussion with IGN, WeirdCo president Elliot Cook noted that team members have experience on games like “Marvel Snap, Duel Masters, and Universus, to name a few.”

With appropriately stylish card art and some interesting mechanical possibilities, there’s definitely a lot of promise here. In the showcase, the team promises that all art is either new, original pieces or classic game art, with no use of AI. It’s hard to get a sense of the finer points of game balance without actually playing it, but this could be another hit for CDPR.

More to follow.
