Resurrection Season 2 Story & Villain Get Intriguing New Tease For Returning Star

While Michael C. Hall’s Bay Harbor Butcher is still back in action, the NYPD will be returning its focus to a different teased serial killer in Dexter: Resurrection season 2.

With the writers room still underway ahead of Dexter: Resurrection season 2’s filming start in April, returning cast member Kadia Saraf, who plays Detective Claudette Wallace, paid a visit to see writer Scott Reynolds before she begins shooting later this spring. Reynolds posted a photo of their reunion on Instagram with the caption It’s a good day when @ kadiasaraf (aka Detective Claudette) shows up. Still on the hunt for that New York Ripper guy…,” teasing what’s next for Wallace’s story in season 2.

Per Reynolds’ caption, it looks like a major component of Detective Wallace’s story in Dexter: Resurrection season 2 will surround her diving deeper into the New York Ripper’s case again. Resurrection season 1 gradually revealed some details about Wallace’s history of trying to track down, identify, and apprehend the New York Ripper, indicating her failure to capture him before he went dormant culminated in intense personal and professional hardships before Dexter Morgan’s arrival in the city.

The closing moments in Dexter: Resurrection season 1’s ending already set up Wallace’s renewed focus on the New York Ripper with a major breakthrough in the case. Before Dexter fled Leon Prater’s mansion, he left a file on the New York Ripper for Wallace to find, which finally revealed the villain’s identity as Don Framt.

Initially, it wasn’t clear how much of the series’ return would actually focus on Wallace and the New York Ripper, as Dexter also took Prater’s boat with some other serial killer files to seemingly begin his own hunts. However, showrunner Clyde Phillips recently confirmed the New York Ripper will officially be introduced in Resurrection season 2, giving both Wallace and her partner Detective Oliva (Dominic Fumusa), as well as Dexter himself, the same major target.

After primarily trying to cover up Harrison’s and his own tracks from the NYPD in season 1, the introduction of the New York Ripper in season 2 will hark back to the premise of numerous seasons of the original Dexter series. Often, Dexter and the police would separately conduct investigations into the main serial killer villain across the season, such as with the Trinity Killer or the Ice Truck Killer.

Though the New York Ripper, aka Don Framt, continues to be teased as the series’ next big bad, the actor who will play the villain in Dexter: Resurrection‘s cast has still yet to be revealed. Considering the season 1 ensemble included stars like Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, Neil Patrick Harris, Eric Stonestreet, and Krysten Ritter, among many others, the bar has already been set high for future additions to Dexter‘s criminal world.

Still, there’s plenty of time before such announcements are expected to be made, with writing still being underway throughout the winter. Thankfully, there won’t be a long wait to see how the New York Ripper and Wallace’s cat-and-mouse chase plays out, as Phillips recently indicated that Resurrection season 2 will premiere in October 2026. For now, new details on Dexter: Resurrection‘s future will likely continue to be confined to similar subtle clues by the cast and crew.
