There are some male/female duos in Hollywood who just go together thanks to their electric chemistry, from Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks to Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, but Chris Evans and Ana de Armas are quietly rising up those ranks. On their own, Evans and de Armas are among the most talented and impressive actors working today. Evans became a household name thanks to the MCU, while de Armas has been nominated for an Oscar and now leads a John Wick spin-off franchise.
Together, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas have shown that they have tremendous chemistry right from the very first time they shared the screen. It was a breakout of sorts in Knives Out, a movie that was a critical and commercial success. Since then, their films together have gone directly to streaming services and they might not be as well received but that hasn’t stopped the two from shining brightly.
Ana De Armas & Chris Evans Struck Gold With Their First Movie Together
Knives Out Was A Major Hit
In 2019, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas starred in their first movie together, Knives Out. Written and directed by Rian Johnson, this murder mystery was a rousing success both at the box office and with the critics, even earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Unlike a lot of great on-screen male and female pairings, Evans and de Armas didn’t play romantic interests in this movie. Instead, Evans plays Ransom, the arrogant and spoiled grandson of a wealthy writer, while de Armas is Marta, the kind-hearted nurse who took care of the patriarch.
Although there isn’t any romantic tension between the two actors, their scenes still stand out. When Ransom and Marta go off to discuss his grandfather leaving her everything in his will, the two have one of the film’s most interesting conversations. It’s unclear if Ransom is being honest in helping her or not, adding some tension to it all while Evans and de Armas deliver tremendous performances. The same goes for the climactic scene near the end of Knives Out when everything gets revealed.
Ghosted Is Carried By Chris Evans & Ana De Armas’ Chemistry
Their Work Together Is The Best Of Their Action Rom-Com
After Knives Out, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas shared the screen as leads in the Apple TV+ original movie Ghosted. This time around, they played love interests as Sadie (de Armas) meets Cole (Evans) and they hit it off on a date, only for Sadie to ignore Cole’s texts afterward. He goes to surprise her with a visit, only to discover that she’s a secret agent, sending them on a wacky action romp. It’s a blast to see Evans, known for playing Captain America, as the bumbling everyman while de Armas gets to be the badass action lead.

Knives Out (2019) |

The Gray Man (2022) |

Ghosted (2023) |

Ghosted didn’t receive strong reviews, only holding a meager 25% Rotten Tomatoes rating. However, even negative reviews were sure to note that the chemistry between the two leads was the best part about the movie. Chris Evans and Ana de Armas are always electric together, even if the movie is a disappointment. Interestingly, Ghosted is actually the third film they made together. They were both in The Russo Brothers’ Netflix original The Gray Man, though they didn’t have too many standout scenes together.
