Even if the setting of these games acts as original stories within the cinematic universe of their respective films, there’s still plenty of potential for film-accurate gaming adaptations. From providing origin stories or expanding upon the plot of the films, there’s still plenty of fun to be had in the past era of iconic movie-tie-in games, with more than enough potential to offer some legendary remakes.

Having been released in 2007, Transformers: The Game is by far one of the best adaptations of Michael Bay’s blockbuster films, let alone the Transformers franchise itself. While the darker tone of the films might not match up with traditional adaptations, Transformers: The Game offered plenty of incredibly satisfying mechanics that take full advantage of its characters.
There were also two DS versions of the game released at the same time, offering a smaller scale but still enjoyable open-world experience.
On top of the standard campaign based on the events of the film’s storyline, Transformers: The Game offers an entirely separate Decepticon-themed campaign occurring at the same time as the Autobot side that encourages mass destruction. From transforming on the go, action-packed blockbuster action, and some great voice acting, it’s a shame there weren’t more follow-ups to Transformers: The Game.
