Even with the recent launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, there are many people who are still happily playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) while they wait for an announcement about a new game. This massively popular cozy game has managed to keep players returning day after day for years to check on their virtual neighbors and maintain their beautiful islands. While it is undoubtedly a great game, there are still some quality of life issues that would be nice to have addressed, especially as ACNH will likely continue to be played for years to come.
Animal Crossing‘s next game will hopefully build off ACNH, and that may take many of these standard issues into account. However, even after the new game inevitably arrives, ACNH will always have devoted players. Nintendo has continued to implement patches, even just recently, but they seem to be ignoring many of the ideas that would be useful quality of life changes that players have asked for since day one.
Simple things like crafting multiples, buying in bulk, and getting multiple nook tickets from the ABD could make the game more fun, without sacrificing anything the game is trying to do.

Just Minor Tweaks And Bug Fixes
Nintendo hasn’t completely given up supporting ACNH just yet, with small updates continuing to be pushed to the game. Even just a couple of days before this article was written, patch 2.0.8 went through, which fixed some minor bugs in the game and made it more compatible for people who are moving their islands to the Nintendo Switch 2. Though the patch notes do include “other adjustments and corrections were made to improve game play experience”, it does not go into what these are, and apparently they are not big enough to warrant being explained.

Unfortunately, the last time any content-related changes came was back in 2021. With the game only being released in 2020, this seems too quick for Nintendo to quit adding to it in today’s world of game updates and DLCs.
New Horizons Still Has Quality Of Life Issues To Resolve
Not Just Annoyances, But Useful Changes For Quality Of Life
Even when ACNH was first launched, the game seemed to lack many of the common features of other Animal Crossing games, including swimming, the Roost, an art gallery, and many of the regular NPCs like Redd, Leif, and more. Thankfully, these were added over time, but there remains a feeling that ACNH is doing little to listen to its players and what they want.
The quality of life fixes that players have asked for since the beginning have not been acknowledged by Nintendo, which is disappointing for such a popular game. These include simple changes such as:
- Crafting multiple items at once
- Buying in bulk
- Getting multiple nook tickets without having to go through the ABD process repeatedly
- Easier inventory sorting
- Ability to grab specific stack amounts of items
None of these would be massive overhauls to the game, but could greatly add to the enjoyment that players have in ACNH.
ACNH Deserves Some More Updates To Improve Slower Tasks
Even If Another Animal Crossing Game May Be Coming
Animal Crossing games, perhaps especially the island life of ACNH, are designed to be slow, slice-of-life games that are relaxing and less stressful. Despite being small complaints, simply being able to skip repetitive ABD dialogue boxes or craft several items at once to sell would help to make the experience even more relaxing. These slow tasks in the game would end up being more calming and fun, and it wouldn’t take anything away from what ACNH‘s core gameplay is.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has gotten complaints from fans regarding its lack of updates, but this isn’t actually ACNH’s worst mistake.
If nothing else, it would be a fun little addition if Nintendo added a Nintendo Switch 2 console item to the game, like how they have the Nintendo Switch as an in-game item. Of course, that isn’t necessary, but it would be a little bonus treat.
Ultimately, Animal Crossing New Horizons will always be one of those games that will be beloved by players and continue to be enjoyed by many for several years to come, even without these small updates. But, they would still be nice to have.
