James Gunn’s upcoming Peacemaker season 2 will continue Chris Smith’s DCEU story in the DCU. Little may change, however, as the biggest differences to the show’s first season may be contextual hints and character references.
During the Peacemaker season 2 panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, where ScreenRant‘s Brennan Klein was present, James Gunn confirmed that Peacemaker‘s second season takes place two months after the events of Superman. Gunn highlights the Justice Gang’s return in the show, where John Cena’s Chris Smith will interact with Guy Gardner, Kendra Saunders, and Maxwell Lord. Gunn says:
“The show happens a month after the events of Superman… a lot of the characters return… in the first episode we have Guy Gardner and Maxwell Lord”
Peacemaker Will Likely Acknowledge The Events Of Superman
Peacemaker season 2 is likely to acknowledge the events of Superman early on. Since the DCU will follow Chris Smith two months after Superman, the movie battle’s aftermath will still be fresh. Peacemaker season 2’s first trailer confirms that Chris Smith will fail to join the Justice Gang, who may be even more arrogant than usual due to their recent feats of power in Superman.
