The quests in Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game all feature a cozy and relaxed vibe, even when rushing around to make sure an assessor doesn’t see someone with their trousers down. So when little Daisy Took needs help solving some riddles from Nora, you can bet that they aren’t going to be too troublesome. That said, the riddles, particularly the first riddle, can be a bit tricky to figure out how to solve, with the game giving little to no help.
Tales of the Shire focuses heavily on the companionship and fellowship of the Hobbit community as players help to make Bywater become a village. This close-knit group of friends and families help each other as much as they feed each other, including Nora Burrows wanting to help Daisy learn to read. As part of these reading lessons, she gives Daisy three riddles to decipher, testing both her reading and logic at the same time. When Daisy is good and stumped, she comes to us, her new Hobbit friend, for help.
Riddle 1: “In The Eye Of The Lake, There Stands A Tree…”
Helping Daisy Took Figure Out Nora’s First Riddle
The first riddle from Nora is, “In the eye of the lake, there stands a tree. And in its roots, you’ll find what you seek.” Unlike other quests, clicking on this task in the journal does not prompt the bluebirds to happily guide you to where the answer is, and talking to Nora or Daisy doesn’t result in any help.
“In the eye of the lake, there stands a tree. And in its roots, you’ll find what you seek.”
To solve the riddle, you must go to the location that the riddle means, and then you will see the glowing lights that can start a cutscene with Daisy. There are many lakes on the map of Bywater, many with trees shown to be around them. However, the correct spot is a little lake in the central part of the southernmost section of the map where there is a little island in the middle of a lake. The tree in question is actually a tree stump, and therefore does not show on the map.
Riddle 2: “In The Heart Of The Forest, It Calls…”
Daisy Gets A Second Riddle From Nora
After solving the first riddle, Daisy will share the second with you: “In the heart of the forest, it calls. Where the river doesn’t run, it falls. Where the water doesn’t babble, it roars.” Again, this task requires you to go to the right spot in the world to reveal the rest of this side story.
“In the heart of the forest, it calls. Where the river doesn’t run, it falls. Where the water doesn’t babble, it roars.”
This answer is not far from where the first riddle was solved. Head east to where the road crosses the river, and you’ll find a little area with a very pretty waterfall.

Tales Of The Shire Reveals Character With A Deep Fellowship Of The Ring Connection
ScreenRant can exclusively share a new character from Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game, a life sim which finally arrives later this month.
Here, like in the first instance, you will see dancing glowing dots to indicate that a cutscene will take place of showing the solution to Daisy.
Daisy’s Final Riddle From Nora
The third and final riddle says, “A traveller without foot or wheel, its journey done, now resting its keel.” Anyone who is familiar with nautical terms may catch on to this immediately by the use of the word keel. Sure enough, it is referring to an overturned boat up near Old Noakes.
“A traveller without foot or wheel, its journey done, now resting its keel.”
Go to the spot on the Bywater map where Old Noakes fishes off his jetty, then move just a little west where you’ll see an old rowboat on the land. This will trigger the final cutscene involving Daisy and the riddles from Nora. I’m not sure how much these riddles helped Daisy, given that we did most of the work of solving them, but they still make for some fun little side quests and make Daisy even happier in Tales of the Shire.
