Brandon Blackstock‘s adult daughter, Savannah Blackstock Lee, 23, paid tribute to the late music manager on Tuesday (Aug. 19) in a loving Instagram post featuring photos of the father and daughter over the years. “My daddy never fell short of making my dreams come true. No matter how high or how far, he made a way. Not only did he make my dreams come true, he chased them with me,” Blackstock Lee wrote of her dad, who died on Aug. 7 at 48 after a three-year struggle with cancer.
“Worldwide he was there, my biggest cheerleader. He is my best friend, my voice of reason, and my favorite phone call every day,” Blackstock Lee said in the post that featured snaps of her dad in a black suit and matching cowboy hat at her 2023 wedding to Quentin Lee, as well a shots of the pair on a farm and with her children.
“Over the past 6 months my dad gifted me a new avenue of our relationship, and that was a relationship centered in Jesus,” she added about their shared faith. “He always loved the Lord, but 6 months ago he sought the Lord. He was hungry for the word and we did it together. He’s gifted me more than I could’ve asked for and deserved throughout my life, but 12 days ago he blessed me the most valuable gift I could’ve asked for. The gift of knowing where he is today, in Heaven with our Savior.”
In addition to Savannah, Blackstock had a son, Seth, from a previous marriage as well as two children with his second ex, singer Kelly Clarkson, who he married in 2013; the couple settled their divorce in 2022 after nine years of marriage.
Blackstock Lee — who announced last month that she is expecting a third child next year — ended the note with a final tribute to the man she called her “favorite Cowboy,” writing, “I lost a piece of my heart and my favorite Cowboy, but Heaven gained an angel. I’m so thankful for the time I did have and I can’t wait for eternity. I love you daddy and I will miss you indefinitely. Enjoy your ranch up there, God designed it with your heart’s desires in mind.”
Blackstock’s family announced his death earlier this month, writing in a statement, “It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.”
Reba McEntire paid tribute to her former stepson last week, just days after Blackstock’s death was announced; McEntire and Narvel Blackstock, Brandon’s father, were married for 26 years before splitting in 2015. “Last week, my stepson/oldest son Brandon Blackstock went home to be with God,” McEntire wrote. “His struggle is over and he is in eternal peace in God’s presence. There is no one else like him, and I’m thankful for the time we had together.”
Clarkson cancelled a planned appearance at last weekend’s Band Together Texas flood benefit show in Austin, Texas due to “personal circumstances” in the wake of Blackstock’s death. Earlier this month, Clarkson also postponed the remainder of her Las Vegas Studio Sessions residency shows for August citing Blackstock’s ill health.
