Blue Note Los Angeles is officially set to open its doors on Thursday, August 14th, when Robert Glasper will deliver a pair of performances.
Blue Note Jazz Club confirmed that grand opening (which had originally been scheduled for March) and initial booking on social media. Technically a subsidiary of 44-year-old Blue Note Entertainment Group, the global venue brand has locations in New York, Tokyo, Milan, and Shanghai, to name a few.
Now, LA is just shy of seven weeks away from joining the list. Located at 6372 Sunset Blvd., Blue Note Los Angeles will kick things off with two August 14th performances (one at 7 PM, the other at 9:30 PM) from the mentioned Robert Glasper.
“We’re about to blend the legendary Blue Note legacy with that unmistakable LA energy, and trust me, it’s going to be something beautiful,” said the longtime Blue Note partner Glasper, who’s lined up two performances for August 15th as well. “This city has given me so much over the years, and now we get to give back in the most musical way possible.”
At the time of writing, all four grand-opening shows’ Ticketweb pages – “Tickets for Blue Note LA shows are only available for purchase on Ticketweb,” the relevant FAQ section emphasizes – were indicating that passes had sold out. However, the very first performance also featured an email waitlist for forthcoming ticket releases.
If these releases do materialize, they’ll presumably involve a small number of seats. The “main jazz club” is said to have a 200-person capacity at Blue Note Los Angeles, compared to a maximum audience size of 100 for the venue’s “secondary ‘B Side’ room.”
(It’s probably best to avoid resale passes here. “We are not affiliated with any third-party sellers,” the Blue Note Los Angeles website reads in part. “Tickets purchased on third-party sites will not be honored. The credit card used for original purchase of tickets will be required at the door upon entry.”)
Hitting the ground running, Blue Note Los Angeles has shows scheduled not just throughout the remainder of August, but all the way into 2026. Keeping the focus on August, performing talent includes Alex Isley (16th and 17th), The Philharmonik (18th), Terrace Martin (19th and 20th), Glasper (21st and 22nd), Emily King (23rd and 24th), Mayer Hawthorne (25th), BJ The Chicago Kid (26th and 27th), and Ravi Coltrane (28th-31st).
