Happy 33rd Birthday to Sofía Palazuelo Barroso, Duchess of Huéscar! The Spanish Socialite and Businesswoman is married to the Heir of the illustrious House of Alba.
The daughter of Fernando Palazuelo and Sofia Barroso, Sofía Palazuelo Barroso was born in Palma and educated at Emerson College in Boston later living in New York before retuning to Spain.
After a relationship of several years which began while they were studying in the United States, Sofía Palazuelo married Fernando Fitz-James Stuart, 17th Duke of Huéscar, the eldest son of Carlos Fitz-James Stuart, 19th Duke of Alba and Matilde de Solís-Beaumont, in a spectacular ceremony at the Liria Palace in Madrid in 2018, attended by Queen Sofia of Spain and the Tsar and Queen of Bulgaria.
The Duke and Duchess have two daughters, Rosario and Sofía Fitz-James Stuart y Palazuelo, and are expecting a third child, a son, later this year.
We’ve been able to enjoy them immensely. We’re incredibly lucky to have been able to balance our professional careers with our home life; a total and absolute luxury. We’ve both always wanted a big family. And I think, these days, three is a great number. We’ll see, but, in principle, three is a good number,”
The Duke of Huéscar is the Heir to the Dukedom of Alba, one of Spain’s most illustrious aristocratic titles, and the massive fortune of the House of Alba, concentrated at the Liria Palace in Madrid and the Palacio de las Dueñas in Seville, with hereditary privileges such as being the only person to enter the Seville Cathedral on horseback.
In addition to their involvement in the Casa de Alba Foundation, the Duke and Duchess have launched a niche perfume line called FITZ-JAMES STUART (F-JS), and the Duchess has been involved in reviving the Galiana Palace in Toledo, a beautiful 11th-century building belonging to her mother’s family. We wish Her Excellency a very Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns!
