Six Kings, Five Queens and Seven Heirs led Foreign Royal Guests from around the world at the Enthronement of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan at the Imperial Palace of Tokyo on this day in 1990, 35 years ago.









In the morning, Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan took part in the Sokuirei-Tojitsu-Kashikodokoro-Omae-no-Gi, Sokuirei-Tojitsu-Koreiden-Shinden-ni-Hokoku-no-Gi, Sokuirei-Seiden-no-Gi, and Shukuga-Onretsu-no-Gi traditional Shinto ceremonies in various shrines in the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.

Later in the afternoon, Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko (wearing the Meiji Scroll Tiara) conducted a carriage procession through the streets of Tokyo.







That evening, Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko (in the Meiji Scroll Tiara) held a magnificent Banquet for Foreign Royal Guests and Dignitaries at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.
