Princess Ingrid Alexandra begins her university exams in Australia

A future queen has started her university exams!

Princess Ingrid
Alexandra has begun her first year of university exams and the
Norwegian Royal Court shared snaps of the future queen studying
hard at the University of Sydney.

“According to Australian superstition, if you haven’t
already started reading before the jacaranda trees are in full
bloom, it means trouble in your exams,”
the Court captioned a carousel of images of
Princess Ingrid Alexandra around campus.

The young royal began studying at the University of Sydney
earlier this year, reading for a three-year Bachelor of Arts degree
that focuses on international relations and political economy.

Earlier this month, the future queen sat down for an interview with
NRK
, the Norwegian national broadcaster, to discuss
her educational pursuits, why she chose an Australian university
over a Norwegian school, and her family life.

Her exam period began on 17 November, and Princess Ingrid
Alexandra revealed that she had some nerves and some excitement
about being tested. “You can only hope you’ve prepared well
throughout the year,”
she said.

The princess said that she was happy she chose the University of
Sydney, but it wasn’t a conscious decision to choose a university
far away from Norway. She chalked her decision to move continents
to the fact that the University of Sydney is “an incredibly
good university with good teachers and a nice student
environment,”
and that “it helps to have an international
perspective.”

Of her degree program, Princess Ingrid Alexandra said that it
would be a good foundation to her future job—the first modern queen
of Norway.

“I think it is important to have a basic understanding of
the political system, of international relations, and how things
work. And you learn an incredible amount from just being in
conversations, having good discussions where you even disagree. I
think that will be very important for me in the future as
well.”

The Norwegian Royal Court shared a good luck with for all
students in Norway and Australia currently undergoing exams:
“The purple trees have been blooming for several weeks already,
but we still wish you good luck—whether you opened the curriculum
early or at the last minute!”

After Princess Ingrid Alexandra finishes her exams, she’ll return
to Norway for a holiday period where she says she hopes to relax
and perhaps carry out some royal engagements.
