Denmark’s Crown Prince acts the clown as he attempts to grab another title with a gingerbread house

As Christmas gets closer, it’s more important than ever that
families band together and enjoy the traditions of the season. And
if that involves a little sabotage during a gingerbread house
decorating competition between siblings, who’s to stop it?

The Danish royal
family has shared a fun short video to their social media channels of
Crown Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and
Princess Josephine deciding to undertake a gingerbread house
decorating competition at their home in Frederik VIII’s Palace at
Amalienborg Palace.

“Are you ready for a little challenge?” Crown Prince
Christian asks his younger siblings. The heir to the throne, 20,
then takes full charge and some advantage in the contest.

The four children of King Frederik and Queen Mary divided into
teams of two, boys versus girls, and raced to decorate their
gingerbread houses.

The future king and his younger brother , 14 ear old Vincent,
quickly lose track of the challenge—their icing never manages to
seal any pieces of the gingerbread house together—and they end up
playing with their gingerbread instead.

Princess Isabella, 18, and Princess Josephine, 14,meanwhile, are
shown painstakingly icing their gingerbread house, adding décor and
even building a gingerbread snowman for the lawn.

It’s then that Crown Prince Christian plays the clown and
strikes for the advantage. Unbeknownst to the princesses, their
brothers have pulled a completed—and quite clearly professionally
decorated—gingerbread house out from a hiding space and present it
as their own once the timer runs out.

“Why is theirs 10 times prettier!” Princess Isabella
exclaims. When the ladies walk over to the other side of the
kitchen, they quickly spot something under the counter that gives
away the boys’ cheating.

Crown Prince Christian tries to block his sisters from grabbing
their initial gingerbread house, but then he shows it—all of the
pieces laying flat on the tray—and he jokes: “That’s what me
and Vincent got in the first five minutes until we gave
up.”

The Danish roayl family previously announced that King
Frederik, Queen Mary, and their children will spend Christmas at
Amalienborg with Queen Margrethe. They will attend church services
in the Vor Frue Kirke on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

King Frederik will also give his annual New Year’s Eve speech
from Frederik VIII’s Palace.
