Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is all about family bonds. The show beautifully depicts the precious bonds shared by a father and a son, wife-husband, friends like family and more. Jethalal played by Dilip Joshi may be smitten by Babita ji, however, his love for his wife Daya is truly special. Well, Dilip Joshi’s real-life love story is also as special. In an old interview, the actor once spoke about his arranged marriage and how he got engaged at mere age of 18.
All about Dilip Joshi’s ‘Balik Vadhu type’ love story
In an interview with Mashable India, Dilip Joshi shared that he got engaged to his wife when she was just 14 years old. He was 18 years old then. They tied the knot when she turned 18 and he turned 22. When asked about romance, he called his marriage a ‘Balika Vadhu type story’ and said “Romance toh hua hi nahi. (There was no romance).” In the interview, Dilip Joshi also recalled how he was shy to talk to girls as he came from Boy’s school. He added that he could open up and communicated to women when he started learning acting. He was quoted saying, “I had studied in an all boys’ school, so I used to be very scared of talking to girls, I didn’t know how to talk (to girls). It is only after I got into drama and acting that I gained the confidence to talk.” Dilip Joshi is married to Jaymala Joshi and the couple has two children.

Recently, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah completed 17 years. A major success party was held that was attended by all the cast members along with their family members. Dilip Joshi arrived with his wife and happily posed for the paparazzi. Of course, everyone missed Disha Vakani aka Dayaben. The actress made Dayaben’s role iconic, however, post her maternity leave, she hasn’t returned to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. For years, makers have been hunting for a new Dayaben but are unable to fill the place. Fans are eagerly waiting for Dayaben to return.
