Karan Johar’s romantic drama Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani won two awards at the 71st National Film Awards, including Best Popular Film for its wholesome entertainment and Best Choreography for its energetic song Dhindora Baje Re, holding one of the most important sequences of the film in the form of Ranveer and Alia’s powerful dance performance. After the National Award win, Alia Bhatt shared a behind-the-scenes video of her rehearsals for Dhindora Baje Re with choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant. The unseen video ends with Merchant praising Alia, giving her a cash token, which is considered a traditional gesture of appreciation in Indian cinema. To this, Alia responded by touching Merchant’s feet and then joyfully jumping with excitement.
Sharing the video, Alia wrote, “Reliving these memories and my heart is soooo full today Dhindhora Baje Re is your brilliance @vaibhavi.merchant. Forever grateful for the unforgettable journey that was #RRKPK, and to every single member of this brilliant team, this win is yours. Big big love to this wholesome happy journey.” Reacting to the big achievement, Ranveer Singh also added, “The real win for RRKPK is how it has grown to become people’s go-to comfort film. They rewatch it again and again, as a form of emotional regulation. Ek aisi film jo dil ka bojh halka kar deti hai. That’s wholesome entertainment indeed. Feeling proud, feeling blessed, feeling grateful.”
