In a candid interview, Macaulay Culkin broke silence on several long-standing myths surrounding his classic family series Home Alone.
Macaulay Culkin is a popular American actor and musician who is one of the most successful child actors of the 1990s. Culkin is popularly known for his film Home Alone, which was released in 1990, featuring Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, Kieran Culkin, Catherine O’Hara, and others. In a candid interview with Sean Evan on Thursday for an episode of Hot Ones show, Culkin revealed that the stunt double’s name was Larry, and that the two first met in the wardrobe department. He further explained that they were both trying on the same outfit, and that Larry was dressed exactly like him. According to Culkin, Larry asked him how old he thought he was, and Culkin responded with 13. I’m Larry, the stunt guy.’ And he kind of looks at me and he goes, “‘How old do you think I am?’ And I go, ‘That’s a loaded question.’ I know he’s much older than me ’cause I was 9. So it was loaded; I go, ’13?’ … He thought that was funny,” said Culkin.

shared some behind-the-scenes stories about his experience working with stunt double Larry, including a memorable moment when Larry fell after a shelf collapsed during filming. “It was a vicious first take. It was vicious, and they do it again. And there’s another take just boom. They didn’t like the way everything felt, and they do it again and they do it again … And I’m going, ‘Please take it easy on Larry. He’s only 13 years old.’”
Culkin clarified that some Home Alone myths are untrue, including the idea that he improvised the line “You guys give up? Are you thirsty for me?” “That was in the script,” Culkin explained. However, it was confirmed that the line “‘Cause you’re a stranger” was his own idea.
Culkin further joked that if he was given freedom, he liked to “dork around,” but he generally did what he was told. When asked about Joe Pesci’s behavior on set, Culkin said that he had heard Pesci kept his distance to seem scary. Culkin recalled and said, “He goes, ‘I haven’t been home in three years.’ I was like, ‘Oh, I didn’t realize this was a dick measuring contest.’ But I guess you beat the 10-year-old, Joe Pesci.”
