Lokesh Kanagaraj’s directorial Coolie is headlined by Rajinikanth and is produced by Sun Pictures. The film is one of the most anticipated movies that fans are eagerly waiting for. Coolie is the first Tamil movie that managed to break records for pre-sales of the US premieres. Coolie has beaten Leo and Ponniyin Selvan I’s advance collections for premiers in the US, and Rajinikanth has also beaten his own record for Kabali.
Coolie becomes 1st Tamil film to collect 2M in US pre-sales
As per Sun Pictures, Coolie is the first Tamil film to cross more than $2 million in premiere pre-sales in North America. They took to their social media as they wrote, “#Coolie varraan solliko! #Coolie is the First Tamil film to cross $2 million in premiere pre-sales in North America. #Coolie releasing worldwide August 14th.”
Fans are impressed with the same and have been calling the film a Rajinikanth mass’. One user wrote, “The movie will create a new history.” Another user commented, saying, “Already record broken.” Coolie has broken past Tamil film records, including Rajinikanth’s Kabali (2016), which made $1.9 million and held top spot for premiere pre-sales so far. Vijay’s Leo (2023), The GOAT (2024) and PS1 (2022) held the second, third, and fourth positions, while Jailer (2023) was on fifth place. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Coolie has registered advance booking sales worth Rs 34.89 crore with block seats on August 13. The film has already managed to earn Rs 75 crore worldwide, including more than Rs 30 crore gross from India. The film will open with a gross of over Rs 125 crores in its worldwide opening.

The film stars Nagarjuna, Nimma Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan and Aamir Khan in lead roles. The movie is all set to release in theatres on 14 August. The film has been made with a budget of Rs 350 crore, but there is no official confirmation regarding the same.
