Esha Deol’s 2024 split from Bharat Takhtani came as a shock for many but the actress’s own revelation offered a glimpse into the relationship dynamics and challenges she faced.
Esha Deol and businessman Bharat Takhtani got married in a very royal style in the year 2012. Dharmendra and Hema Malini had married their daughter with one of the biggest celebrations. At that time it was counted among the most talked about weddings of Bollywood. Family, relatives and many stars of the industry were a part of this grand wedding. But twelve years later, in 2024, when this relationship came to an end, everyone was shocked. As perfect as this relationship looked from the outside, it was not that easy from the inside. After marriage, Esha had to adapt to the traditions and environment of Bharat’s family, which was a very different experience for her.

Esha shared many stories of married life in her book Amma Mia. She said that there were some unwritten rules in Bharat’s joint family, which were necessary to follow. One of them was that wearing shorts or vests inside the house was not allowed. This change was a big shock for Esha, who grew up in an open and modern film environment. Gradually, she shed her casual wardrobe and began to adopt the family’s ways. Though Bharat’s family showered her with love and affection, this lifestyle change was completely new and challenging for Esha.
Kitchen experience and family life
After marriage, Esha had to go through another new experience which was the kitchen. Esha had never cooked before. But, according to the family’s tradition, women were tasked to prepare tiffin for their husbands every day. However, her mother-in-law never put any pressure on Esha and always pampered her.
Why did Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani separate?
In February 2024, Esha and Bharat decided to separate peacefully. Since the separation, Esha has often been called a single mother, but she does not like this word. She said that raising children is a shared responsibility and both she and Bharat have always stood together for their daughters.
