Aly Goni sparked controversy after a video of him attending Ganpati celebrations with Jasmine Bhasin went viral, showing him standing silently while others chanted Ganpati Bappa Morya.
TV actor and former Bigg Boss contestant Aly Goni recently attended the Ganpati festival in Mumbai with his girlfriend and actress Jasmin Bhasin. But during this time he was trolled heavily on social media. The reason was Aly’s silence during the Ganpati Aarti and slogan. When everyone was chanting Ganpati Bappa Morya, Aly was seen standing silently. Many people raised questions that if he did not want to join the slogan then why did he go there. Amidst the ever-increasing controversy, Aly has now broken his silence.
Aly Goni Ganpati celebration controversy
In a conversation with Filmigyaan, Aly said that his silence was not intentional, but it happened due to respect and confusion in his mind. He said, “I didn’t even realize it. I was lost in my thoughts. I never imagined something like this could create such a big issue. This was my first time attending Ganpati celebrations…I usually don’t go. I didn’t know what exactly I was supposed to do there, and I always worry that I might unintentionally do something wrong.” Aly clearly said that worship is not allowed in his religion, but this does not mean that he disrespects any religion.

Aly further said, “It’s not allowed in my religion, hum puja nahi karte hai. We have one belief, we offer namaz, we pray, and we respect all religions. It is written in the Quran that we must respect everyone, and I do.” In the videos that went viral on social media, it was seen that when Jasmine and others were dancing and singing Ganpati Bappa Morya, Aly just stood quietly. Even Jasmine gestured him to join in, but he did not do so. Later, when photos were being taken in front of the paparazzi and the crowd raised slogans, Aly still remained silent.
People’s opinions were divided on social media regarding this. Some users targeted Aly and said that if he did not want to chant Jaikara, then he should not have come to the event. At the same time, many people defended him and said that being a Muslim, it is his personal decision and he showed respect just by being present there. Actress Nia Sharma also came out in support of Aly on this whole matter. She said that trolling Aly like this is absolutely wrong and unnecessary.
