Get ready for a cinematic showdown in 2026! Two highly anticipated Tamil films, Parasakthi starring Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan, and Jana Nayagan starring Thalapathy Vijay, are set to clash at the box office during the Pongal festival.
The upcoming Pongal is going to be very special for Tamil cinema. Director Sudha Kongara’s film Parasakthi and H. Vinod’s film Jana Nayakan is going to clash at the box office with Pongal next year. Although there will be a gap of a few days between the two films, it will be no less than a festival for the audience. Parasakthi will feature stars like Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa and Sreeleela, while Jana Nayakan will feature Vijay, Bobby Deol and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles. Both the producers have confirmed the release of their respective projects on the occasion of Pongal/Sankranti.
When will Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi release?
On Friday, the Parasakthi team officially announced the release date of the film by releasing its teaser. This teaser of about 19 seconds gives a glimpse of the retro period setup of the film and also gives a glimpse of the characters of Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi. At the end of the video, it was announced that the film will be released in theaters on January 14, 2026. The story of the film is based on the anti-Hindi movement in Tamil Nadu in 1965. Interestingly, this is the 25th film of Sivakarthikeyan’s career.
When will Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan release?
On the other hand, the Jana Nayakan team had announced the release date of the film in March 2025 itself. This film of Vijay, Bobby Deol and Pooja Hegde will be released in theaters on January 9, 2026. There is already a lot of excitement about this, as this film is considered to be Vijay’s last film, after which he will step into politics and enter the electoral fray with his party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK).
