Popular television actor Ram Kapoor is yet again surrounded by controversy days before the release of his upcoming mystery dramedy Mistry. The show stars Ram along with Mona Singh and the stars are busy promoting their show through a series of media interactions in Mumbai. But, things took an unexpected turn and left everyone shocked. Reportedly, Ram has been removed from all promotional activities related to the series and the decision was taken by the senior leadership at JioHotstar, the OTT platform hosting the show after the actor passed sexually inappropriate remarks during a media interaction with Juhu at JW Marriott on June 19, Thursday.
Ram Kapoor cracked jokes about feeling ‘gang-raped’
Several eyewitnesses, including journalists and team members from JioHotstar and the show’s PR staff, confirmed being disturbed by his comments during the event. As per a report in Midday, eyewitnesses claim that Ram who was sitting with Mistry co-star Mona Singh and JioHotstar executives kept on making repeated comments laced with sexual innuendo which created discomfort for them. “He had back-to-back interviews that day. Referring to the work pressure at one point, he said he felt ‘gang-raped’. This remark was made while one journalist was setting up her mic,” a JioHotstar insider was quoted by the publication.

The 51-year-old actor has made additional inappropriate comments to the members of the JioHotstar and public relations teams. One executive recounted, “He looked at my colleague’s dress and referring to its length, said, ‘The clothes are distracting’.” Another said that it did not hit them immediately, but when it did later that evening, they started recounting the number of offensive things Ram said. Ram even told one of the male people that his mother should have faked a headache and he should have not been born and also made references to sex positions.
Well, the next morning things escalated and the matter reached JioHotstar’s senior leadership and HR team. After internal discussions and verifying the claims with multiple eyewitnesses, the OTT platform decided to remove Kapoor from all promotional activities related to Mistry. They even released an official statement that read, “This workplace prioritizes dignity and safety… We will not tolerate behavior that disrespects professional boundaries.”
Ram has not issued a public response to the controversy as of now. Well, Mistry is about an ex-cop Armaan Mistry who cracks the hardest cases but struggles with severe OCD. The show will start premiering on June 27.
