The 71st National Film Awards winners received recognition by President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday, September 23. Mohanlal, a Malayalam actor who has been working in film for almost four decades, received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The actor was also given a cash prize of lakhs in addition to the honour. Mohanlal was congratulated on this distinction from President Draupadi Murmu. According to her, the superstar is “a complete actor.”

President calls Mohanlal ‘a complete actor’
President Draupadi Murmu posted from her X account about Mohanlal winning the accolade, writing, “I heartily congratulate Mohanlal on being honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. He has effortlessly portrayed the softest and harshest emotions, establishing his image as The Complete Actor.”

What did Mohanlal say about his achievement?
After winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Mohanlal, who has previously won five National Awards, the Padma Bhushan, and the Padma Shri, thanked everyone who helped him define his career in film. He said, “Every film he worked on touched him deeply and reminded him of the power of cinema as a medium.”

He referred to the award as “wonderful and sacred,” stating that it belongs to the whole cinema community and dedicating it to the pioneers of the Malayalam film industry. He said that film is his lifeblood and that receiving this accolade has made him more determined to pursue it more thoroughly and devotedly.

At the 71st National Film Awards, The 12th Fail won Best Feature Film while Flowering Man won Best Non-Feature Film. Both films received their first National Film Award. Shahrukh Khan (Jawan) and Vikrant Massey (The 12th Fail) won the Best Actor award. Shahrukh Khan has received his first National Film Award. Rani Mukherjee won the Best Actress award for her outstanding performance in Mrs. Chatterjee versus Norway. Like Shahrukh, this is her first National Film Award.
