She astonished everyone when she disclosed her romance with famed musician Kumar Sanu and said that they were living together. Now she remembered her difficult custody struggle. Kunickaa Sadanand recently recounted her marriage to Abhay Kothari, which ended in a bitter separation and a protracted custody struggle over their son. When Kunickaa married Abhay, she was twenty years old.

Speaking with fellow competitor Farhana Bhatt, Kunickaa reflected on her early hardships. She revealed that her custody struggle was difficult. She battled for her son’s legal custody for nine years. She would rush to the Delhi court from her job in Mumbai.
But one day, according to Kunickaa, her son advised her to stop since continuing to battle for custody in court would interfere with his studies. She then said that she wasn’t going to fight the custody battle for her son.
Kunickaa said, “Mai 9 saal apne bete ke liye ladi. Yaha kamaati thi Bombay mein, fir bhaag gayi Delhi court. Fir usne mujhe ek din bola ‘Mumma, please aap dono me se koi toh give up karo, warna meri padhai ek dum kharab hojayegi’ Tab maine bola ki mai nahi ladungi.”
