Zubeen Garg passed away on September 19, 2025. Originally, the incident was thought of as a scuba diving accident. However, Zubeen’s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, clarified that he had actually suffered from a seizure while he was swimming at Lazarus Island. Recently the Assamese police had arrested Northeast India Festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta and Garg’s manager, Siddharth Sharma. A few days after his demise, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, a band member, accused Siddharth and Shyamkanu of poisoning Zubeen. The band member also made very shocking revelations, discussing how Siddharth was already acting very suspiciously in Singapore and that he took control of the yacht forcibly, which endangered the passengers.

Shekahr further told News18 that when Zubeen was seen frothing at the mouth, Siddharth was heard shouting, “Jabo de, jabo de” (let him go).
The bandmate accused Siddharth of ignoring critical signs like frothing at the mouth as just ‘acid reflux’ when he should have sought immediate medical help. He claimed that the manager’s immediate negligence hastened the death of the beloved singer.
The witness further claimed that Siddharth had asked Tanmoy Phukan to not arrange drinks, saying that he alone would arrange them. Allegedly, Siddharth was also unable to give a satisfactory enough answer for the liquor and the women that were arranged for Zubeen before he fell sick.
According to Shekhar, Zubeen’s death was not an accident
Shekhar claimed that Zubeen was an expert swimmer and that he could not have drowned naturally. He also shared that Siddharth had asked everyone to keep the videos of the yacht incident private.
Zubeen’s last rites were performed with all state honors in Assam on Tuesday (September 23). Thousands of people were present at the crematorium in Kamarkuchi Village in Sonapur to pay their respects to the late singer.
