Amid The Ba***ds of Bollywood success, Rajat Bedi HITS OUT at Mukesh Khanna for…: ‘He used me to…’

Rajat Bedi accused Mukesh Khanna of changing his words for content. The accusation came after a simple conversation about his life turned into an online controversy.

Rajat Bedi was recently in the spotlight due to his killer performance in The Ba***ds of Bollywood. Now, the actor is again making headlines, but not for his performance. The actor, who played the role of Raj Saxena in Koi Mil Gaya, accused the legendary actor Mukesh Khanna of changing and twisting his words just to get viral content. He mentioned that what started out as a simple conversation about his life snowballed into a controversy, which forced Rajat Bedi to give clarifications about the situation. The Koi… Mil Gaya actor addressed the issue indirectly in a news interview with Siddharth Kannan.

What did Rajat Bedi say?

The actor addressed the entire issue pretty directly, saying, “I share a good bond with Rakesh Roshan, sir. He is the most helpful director. He would enact the scene to explain how it should look on screen. Only an actor-director can do that. As far as my Canada migration statement is concerned, it was blown away because of Mukesh Khanna.”

Bedi explained that Mukesh had distorted his earlier claims just to get viral content and attention. He said, “In an interview, I told him that I moved to Canada after Koi Mil Gaya’s release. But he used my statement to generate views. He stated that I moved to Canada after being sidelined in the promotions of Koi Mil Gaya. That was very wrong. How can you do it just to get hits and views on your video? A week before the interview came out, I was with Rakesh ji.”

What happened in the interview that started it all?

This entire chaos started in 2023, when Rajat Bedi indulged in a candid conversation with Mukesh Khanna. There, he expressed his disappointment about not being included in the film’s promotional activities. During that time, the actor had said, “My biggest disappointment was that when Koi Mil Gaya released, they completely cut me out from the publicity and promotions. I was very disappointed because as an actor, one has expectations. I felt terrible.”

He also revealed that several scenes of his had not made it to the final edit. “I had a lot of scenes in the film with Preity Zinta and Hrithik Roshan. But after the final cut, many of those were edited out,” he remembered.

Why did Rajat Bedi leave India?

The earlier comments that Rajat made about leaving India were not related to any professional anger but were rather about financial irritation. The actor was struggling to achieve financial stability, even after acting in very big films. “Then I was doing films with Sunny Deol. But all the checks I received bounced. I was like, how will I grow? I’m getting films, I’m getting fame, but I had to run a household. I asked myself, Getting popular is fine, but where is the money?” he said.

Eventually, the actor shifted to Vancouver. Over there, he tried to build a career in real estate development, after which he returned to India years later.

Rajat’s career trajectory

Rakesh Roshan’s Koi Mil Gaya is definitely a landmark film. Released in 2003, the film has left its imprint in every Bollywood fan’s heart due to its emotional storyline and visual effects, which were truly ahead of their time. Over the span of his career, the actor has appeared in several films like Rakht, Khamoshh: Khauff Ki Raat, and Rocky—The Rebel. He has also starred in various TV shows like Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Aahat.

And now, with his hard-hitting performance in The Ba***ds of Bollywood, he seems to be making a comeback in his career. This time, he is determined to control his own narrative. “I’ve worked too hard to let someone use me for views,” he mentioned. “This time, people will see me for who I really am.”
