The threat was made in the wake of the terrible event at the TVK rally that left dozens dead and several others injured, which sparked further condemnation of Vijay.
The stampede during Vijay’s rally in Karur on September 27 resulted in 41 fatalities and at least 60 injuries. Police reported that 27,000 people attended the rally, almost three times the 10,000 anticipated. Police also accused Vijay of arriving at the location seven hours late.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, Vijay’s political party, filed a motion in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, October 8, contesting the Madras High Court’s decision to establish a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the Karur stampede that claimed 41 lives. Sniffer dogs, local police, and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) conducted security checks after receiving the emails, but no bombs were discovered. Cases have been filed in accordance with applicable legislation, and the cybercrime wing is looking into where the emails came from.
