Fede Dorcaz, a 29-year-old Argentinian singer, actor, and model, was tragically murdered in Mexico City during an attempted armed robbery on October 9. He was the boyfriend of popular YouTuber Mariana Ávila and was about to make his reality show debut on Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy. News of his death was announced by the social media channel ¡Siéntese Quien Pueda!, which mourned his passing and celebrated his talent and passion for art. “Fede left us too soon, but his talent, charisma, and passion will live on forever in our memories and music,” the channel wrote on Instagram on October 10.
Who Was Fede Dorcaz?
Federico Dorcaz was an Argentine-Italian model and singer, born in Mar del Plata, Argentina. He moved to Spain at 13 and started modeling at 18 before relocating to Mexico to pursue his music career. He also spent time in the United States developing his musical skills. Dorcaz’s music blended pop, rock, and electronic styles, and he was known for his Latin pop hits such as No Eres Tu and Cara Bonita. His debut album Instinto was released in October 2024. Apart from his singing career, he also modeled for Giorgio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana. Dorcaz had moved to Spain with his family at age 13 before relocating to Mexico a few years ago for his career, per Billboard. He was in a relationship with Mariana Ávila, a Mexican actress and dancer known for Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy. Ávila expressed her grief on social media, saying, “You will always be my favorite person in the whole world, I love you and will always love you.”
Details of the Incident
On October 9, On October 9, Dorcaz was driving a rented luxury SUV on the Periférico Ring Road near Electrificación Street in Mexico City’s Miguel Hidalgo borough when two armed men on motorcycles intercepted him. Witnesses say he tried to escape but was shot, exiting the vehicle and collapsing at the scene.
Mexico City’s Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC CDMX) confirmed the attack, which occurred amid heavy traffic. Authorities have launched an investigation for intentional homicide and are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the attackers, who fled the scene on motorcycles.
