Sangeeta Bijlani REGISTERS for a firearm licence, says she feels UNSAFE in her own property

It has been almost three months since the burglary that took place at actress Sangeeta Bijlani’s farmhouse in Maharashtra’s Pune district. Now the actress has come up to express her concern about the investigation no longer getting any progress. She has said that she no longer feels safe at her own property. Bijlani recently had an interaction with Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill in order to check up on the investigation about the burglary. Sangeeta also said that she has applied for a firearms license, saying that she had concerns over personal safety. On Friday night, Sangeeta talked to PTI, “I have been staying there for the last 20 years. Pavana has been a home to me, and it has been three and a half months since the horrific incident of theft at my farmhouse, but there is still no breakthrough.”

What had actually happened?

In July, unidentified people broke into Sangeeta’s property and wreaked havoc. They vandalized various household items like refrigerators, TV sets, and furniture and drew obscene graffiti on the walls. They also stole Rs 50,000 in cash and a TV worth Rs 7,000. According to the police, the incident was described as deeply disturbing. The actress said that S.S. Gill had assured her that they would “go to the bottom of the case and nab the culprits.”

Biljani said that the incident was not shocking for just her but for the entire wider community. She said, “There was a theft and housebreaking. It was scary. Luckily, I was not there. There were obscene things and graffiti written on the wall inside the house.”

“There are several residents in Pavana, including senior citizens and families. Safety is important. Lately, because of these incidents, the residents of the Pavana area are feeling unsafe,” she explained, saying that for the first time she has felt the need to be armed for her personal safety.

She said, “In the wake of this incident, I have sought a firearm license from the Pune rural police. As a woman, if I go alone to the house, I think some sort of protection needs to be there. I never felt the need to have a firearm license, but this is the first time I am feeling insecure,” she said.
