Diljit Dosanjh is currently at the centre of a major controversy. The actor-singer hit headlines due to his film Sardaar Ji 3. The movie stars Pakistani artist Hania Aamir and that has led to major backlash. Many have slammed Diljit Dosanjh for collaborating with Pakistani artist especially after the terrifying Pahalgham Terror Attack. FWICE called for a ban on all Diljit Dosanjh’s projects. The organisation also wrote a letter to the makers of Border 2 requesting to re-consider the casting of Diljit in the film. So has he been replaced?
Diljit Dosanjh removed from Border 2?
Rumours went rife that the makers of Border 2 have taken the decision to replace Diljit Dosanjh as the film revolves around soldiers and the current controversy around the star could impact the film. However, a source close to Hindustan Times has confirmed that these rumours are false. The entertainment news section of the portal had the source stating that there is no plan of replacing Diljit Dosanjh in the movie as his casting was announced nine months ago. 40-50 percent of the film’s shooting is complete and hence making changes to the film is not possible anymore.
FWICE writes to Amit Shah
Reportedly, FWICE has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah requesting to cancel the permission granted to the makers of Border 2 to shoot at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune. The letter reportedly read, “We write to you with deep concern regarding the shooting permission reportedly granted to the production team of the film ‘Border 2’ at the National Defence Academy (NDA) premises in Pune.” Earlier, FWICE also reportedly wrote a letter to filmmaker Imtiaz Ali to remove Diljit Dosanjh from his upcoming film.
Makers comment on Sardaar Ji 3 controversy
The makers of Sardaar Ji 3 have clarified on the controversy stating that the casting of Hania Aamir was done much before the terror attack. The film was shot in February-March before the attack took place. Keeping in mind the sentiments of the citizens, makers skipped India release of Sardaar Ji 3 and released it overseas.
