In a recent interview, former Miss World Yukta Mookhey spoke about her ‘junior’ Priyanka Chopra and said that she has nothing to admire about her.
Yukta Mookhey won the Miss World crown in 1999, and a year later, Priyanka Chopra won the Miss World crown in 2000, making it a proud moment for India to win the beauty pageant title in consecutive row. During a recent interview with Filmymantra Media, Yukta was asked about her thoughts on her association with fellow winners and other beauties who followed in her footsteps.
What did Yukta reveal about Priyanka Chopra?
During the interview, Yukta was asked what she admired about Priyanka Chopra. She replied, ‘Nothing.’ She further added, ‘No. Because she is junior to me. She was the one taking advice from me. Because she was in the following year after me. I personally feel that there were things that I guided her for, and her parents were sort of wanting to talk to my parents. I don’t think she is the right person for you to ask me at this moment.’
Yukta Mookhey revealed that Priyanka would take advice from her while preparing for the pageant and even hinted Priyanka saw her as competition. However, in contrast, she recalled one incident and praised Juhi Chawla, who was crowned in 1984.

Yukta said that Juhi Chawla looked so gracious and added that those are people to look up to, not as rivals. Juhi complimented Yukta’s appearance, encouraged her to go international, and uplifted her without seeing her as a rival. Yukta admired Juhi’s humility, grounded nature, and strong value system, noting that she’s still elegant and true to her culture.
Despite both winning the Miss World, Yukta and Priyanka’s careers took different turns. Yukta struggled to establish her name in the entertainment industry. She had appeared in some films such as Pyaasa, Katputtli, and Memsahab, which were not a commercial success.
As of Priyanka Chopra, she had made a name for herself not only in Bollywood but also in Hollywood and has become of of the highest-paid actresses in India.
