Maddock Films’ Thamma has been creating a lot of buzz in the box office ever since it was released. However, the film seems to be making headlines for something completely different now. The music director of the film has been accused of sexual harassment. Read ahead to know more.
Maddock Films’ horror comedy universe’s latest installment, Thamma, has been creating a buzz in the box office ever since its release. However, recently, the film has been in the news for reasons completely unrelated to the blasting success of the film. As reported by India Today, Sachin Sanghvi, the music director of the film, has been accused of sexual harassment by a 29-year-old woman. The woman claimed that Sanghvi promised her a role in a music video and even marriage, after which he sexually assaulted her. An FIR was filed against the music composer, after which he was taken into custody. However, he was subsequently released on bail.
What did Sanghvi’s lawyer have to say about it?
Sanghvi’s lawyer, Aditya Mithe, gave a statement to the media, in which he called these allegations “absolutely baseless and unsubstantiated” and even said that Sachin’s detention was “illegal.” He also added that “There are absolutely no merits to the case. We intend to defend all allegations fully and unequivocally.”
The music director himself is yet to comment on the issue; however, his Instagram account, @soulfulsachin, has been deactivated. The Instagram account of the music duo that Sachin is a part of, Sachin-Jigar, is still active.
Maddock Films has faced an issue like this before
Maddock Films is not facing an issue like this for the first time. Last year, when Stree 2 was having a successful run at the box office, the choreographer who worked on the song Aaj Ki Raat, choreographer Jani Master (whose real name is Shaik Jani Basha), was caught up in a similar issue. He was accused of sexual assault by a former assistant choreographer. The victim of the issue was 21 when she filed the case and said that she had been facing sexual assault at the hands of Jani Master for over six years, beginning when she was a minor.
After the complaint, the choreographer was arrested by Cyberabad police in Goa on September 19, 2024, under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He later confessed to the allegation and was granted bail on October 24, 2024, by the Telangana High Court.
