Mallika Sherawat turned 49 today, October 24. Known for her roles in Welcome, Double Dhamaal and Khwahish. Sherawat has been involved with women’s rights activism, discussing women’s issues at the 65th United Nations DPI/NGO Conference in 2014. During the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, Sherawat had herself locked in a cage for twelve hours to support the Free A Girl India NGO. She is also vocal advocate for animal rights and cruelty-free living. She has even been vegan for years and has also opened up about experimenting with various foods and cuisines as a part of her vegan lifestyle.

‘You will think I’m a cow, but I don’t eat dessert’

Mallika Sherawat’s diet contains fresh fruits, green salads, avocado, and Thai green curry. In an August 23, 2020, interview with Bollywood Hungama, she said, “I’m a vegan, so I don’t take any animal products or any dairy products. So it means no milk, no lassi, no paneer, no cheese. My breakfast is usually a lot of fresh fruits… mango is my favourite fruit… I don’t drink either tea or coffee… I don’t eat roti… sometimes, I don’t eat a lot of dessert, also. Gosh, I eat only dates for dessert. You will think I’m such a cow, but I don’t eat dessert. A lot of dates.”

‘I like a lot of avocado’

Mallika said in the same interview, “I like bhindi a lot. Bhindi, of course, I prefer it in a vegetable form, in a cooked form, but a lot of green salads and avocado. I like a lot of avocado also… I like Thai green curry because it’s made with coconut milk and it has the right kind of spices.” A vegan lifestyle implies refraining from animal-derived products. Who is Mallika Sherawat?

Reema Lamba, better known as Mallika Sherawat, is an Indian actress who mainly works in Hindi-language films. Known for her roles in films like Khwahish (2003) and Murder (2004), Sherawat has also established herself as a sex symbol in Bollywood. She is also known for appearing in several popular item songs. Sherawat’s role in Pyaar Ke Side Effects (2006) was well-received. She later starred in Aap Ka Suroor, Welcome (both 2007), Dasavathaaram (2008), her biggest commercial success so far and Double Dhamaal (2011). Apart from Indian movies, she has appeared in the Chinese films The Myth (2005) and Time Raiders (2016). She was one of the few Bollywood stars trying to cross over to Hollywood, with films like Hisss (2010) and Politics of Love (2011).
