On Monday evening (October 27, 2025), unknown individuals sent emails claiming that bombs had been planted in the homes of famous actor Rajinikanth, Dhanush, and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President K. Selvaperunthagai in Chennai. These emails created a stir within the police administration. As reported by The Hindu, these emails were sent directly to the official email ID of the Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP). The emails were then forwarded to the Greater Chennai City Police for further action.
Rajinikanth, Dhanush and TNCC chief Selvaperunthagai’s residence receive BOMB threat
Upon receiving the emails, the police immediately launched an investigation. On Monday evening, a team from the Teynampet police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) arrived at Rajinikanth’s Poes Garden home. They conducted a security check and searched every corner to determine if any suspicious objects had been placed there. However, the actor’s security personnel told the police that no stranger had entered the house, so the bomb threat could be a hoax.
Similarly, the police team and BDDS also conducted a search of Dhanush and K. Searches were also conducted at Selvaperunthagai’s homes. After completing security checks at all locations, police found no explosives. Following the investigation, officials confirmed that all the threatening emails were fake and were sent by someone with the intention of spreading rumors.
Chennai police are now seriously investigating the matter to determine who sent these emails and their motives. Officials stated that the Cyber Crime Wing is conducting a technical investigation to identify the sender. Police also stated that spreading such false information is a serious crime and strict action will be taken against those responsible. However, at present, all homes are safe and no threats have been detected.
