Television star Karanveer Bohra takes on a new storytelling format with Pocket TV’s upcoming micro-drama Ek Tha Deewana. Read on to know what his take on short-form storytelling is like, and the experience of working with Surbhi Joshi, and other young actors.
Popular television actor and Internet personality Karanveer Bohra – who is loved for his roles in Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Naagin 2, and Qubool Hai, among others – is stepping into a new storytelling format with Pocket TV’s upcoming micro-drama Ek Tha Deewana. The actor is widely known for his charm and versatility, and fans constantly praise the fact that he has played everything from romantic heroes to intense villains, and always managed to bring a strong sense of conviction and charisma to his performances that makes the audience crave more.
In his upcoming, Ek Tha Deewana, Karanveer stars along with popular actress Surbhi Joshi. The story follows Aditya, a businessman who believes his wife loves him deeply, only to end up as a victim to her evil schemes. As Karanveer walks on this new and exciting journey, we caught up with him to talk about his experiences, the new content format, and what’s it like working with Surbhi.
You’ve played many intense roles over the years. What makes your character in Ek Tha Deewana different from the ones you’ve done before? What excited you the most about it?
This character that I played in Ek Tha Deewana is again very stylish, you know, and he’s mean, okay, and he’s a go-getter. Again, very layered. In micro-dramas, you have to emote faster. You have to keep the same characterization in mind but emote faster. So it was challenging. And that’s why I enjoy working in micro-dramas so much because challenges are fun for me. This is a new medium, like a binge-watch medium, where the audiences are lapping up micro-dramas left, right, and center.
For me, it’s a great platform to connect with my audience.
This is the first time you are working in short-format dramas like Pocket TV. How does it fare in comparison to doing full-length TV shows or serials?
I am really enjoying this medium as well because I have always challenged myself as an actor, starting from doing theater, then doing television, then movies, then web series, and making a lot of content for social media and its vertical content. We got into producing shorts. My partner and I were making a lot of horror content for my channel, and we realized it’s a lot of fun. That’s when all these vertical micro-dramas came in. For me, we understood the format way before people did. I am really enjoying this journey into micro-dramas.
You’re working alongside Surbhi Joshi in this project. How has your experience been collaborating with her?
I never got much chance to interact with these actors because I’m so focused on doing my work. But whatever interaction I’ve had has been with a very sweet, hard-working girl. I think that’s what is needed right now for all the actors working in micro-dramas: forget the kind of clout you have and just focus on work. Now is the time to pick up work, do work, and not be too choosy. That’s the advice and suggestion I would give to all these actors coming in and working in micro-dramas or in these verticals.
With Ek Tha Deewana, Karanveer Bohra embraces a fresh chapter in his journey. He is taking a deep dive into the world of micro-dramas with his passion, dedication, and his signature charm, and we cannot wait to see the results very soon.
