According to Korean media reports, international star Don Lee has been roped in for a key role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming Prabhas-led film Spirit.
Korean actor Don Lee, who was the centre of global attention thanks to his roles in Train To Busan and Marvel’s Eternals, is going to be a part of the Indian film industry. As per Korean media reports, Don Lee (Ma Dong-seok is his other name) will be the main antagonist in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s movie Spirit, which also features Prabhas in a prominent role, and the latter playing the lead. The announcement of Lee’s entry into the Indian film industry has been made by Muko, the Korean drama and entertainment community, who took to Twitter on Tuesday to share the news.
Will Don Lee play the villain in Spirit?
The tweet was translated as “This film, titled Spirit, is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and stars Prabhas, famous for Baahubali, in a dark-toned detective crime drama. It is only known that Ma Dong-seok’s role in this film is a character who stands in opposition to the one played by Prabhas.” Moreover, it mentioned that Don Lee has recently been in India for the shooting of the film. “Recently, Ma Dong-seok has been spotted posting on Instagram and other platforms, showing himself boarding a flight to India, and it turns out it was for this film,” the article said.
The article referred to Sandeep Reddy Vanga as “one of the most controversial yet successful directors of recent times,” backing his claim with the examples of his past projects Animal and Arjun Reddy. By the way, it is still not known if the movie will be distributed in Korea, even with Don Lee’s presence. The film crew has not communicated the official word regarding Don Lee’s role yet.
All about Spirit
The film, Spirit, is said to be a cop-action drama starring Prabhas in the lead role. Tripti Dimri, Prakash Raj, and Vivek Oberoi also play important roles. On Prabhas’s birthday, Sandeep Reddy Vanga released the film’s sound story teaser, which gave a glimpse of the film through Prabhas’s voice, but did not reveal much of the story. Spirit is expected to be theatrically released in 2026.
