Jannat Zubair, the famous television actress, has raised her voice in support of Ashnoor Kaur, who is a contestant in the recent season of Bigg Boss 19. This happened after Kunickaa Sadanand, Tanya Mittal, and Neelam Giri made remarks bodyshaming Ashnoor. Jannat took to her Instagram on Tuesday, which was October 28, and shared a picture of Ashnoor from the sets of Bigg Boss. In the caption, she shared her opinions about the entire situation. She penned down, “A person’s body is not public property for jokes and opinions. It’s 2025-we should’ve evolved past body shaming by now. She’s on that stage because she’s talented, confident, and unstoppable, not because she fits someone’s idea of a ‘perfect body.’ Proud of you, @ashnoorkaur, for holding your head high and being you.”
What was the controversy all about?
This controversy had sparked after Neelam made remarks about Ashnoor during a recent episode of Salman Khan’s controversial show. She jokingly asked Kuncikaa and Tanya, “Jurassic Park dekhoge?” (Will you watch Jurassic Park?) and pointed at Ashnoor when she was standing with Pranit More.
Kunickaa and Tanya laughed at the comment. Later, they both had a conversation revolving around Tanya’s weight gain. Tanya said that despite the fact she works out daily, she is still gaining weight and has “started to look like her mother.”
Celebrities spoke out in favour of Ashnoor
The aftermath of these comments followed soon, with fans and celebrities alike condemning the behavior of the three ladies. Ashnoor’s co-star from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Rohan Mehra, voiced out his support as well.
Rohan took to X (formerly Twitter), where he shared a clip of the three and said, “Body shaming is unacceptable. What happened to @ashnoorkaur today was wrong and needs to be called out. Respect and kindness should be the bare minimum. Shame on you, @iam_kunickaasadanand, @neelamgiri_, and @tanyamittalofficial.” He also added a thumbs down emoji with it.
Awez Darbar, who was a contestant in the current season and got evicted in the initial weeks of the show, also showed his support for Ashnoor.
