Kannappa is ruling at the box office. At a recent press meet, Vishnu Manchu opened up on getting a ‘Bollywood director’ to helm his film.
Currently, South actor Vishnu Manchu is on cloud nine. He is basking in all the praises coming his way post the release of his mythological action thriller Kannappa. The took a flying start at the box office and is making enough noise for it to become a major success. Kannappa has turned out to be the highest opening day grosser in Vishnu Manchu’s career. While South film are proving to be a rage, Vishnu Manchu’s Kannappa has also added to the list. However, unlike other South films, this one is directed by Hindi director – Manoj Kumar Singh. Why so? Vishnu Manchu opens up on why he chose a Bollywood director for Kannappa
The team of Kannappa held a press meet on Saturday in Hyderabad following the successful day one at the box office. Vishnu Manchu was present at the event and was asked why the team chose a ‘Bollywood filmmaker’ to tell a tale that is deeply rooted in Telugu culture. To this, Vishnu Manchu shared that no director from Tollywood would be willing to work with him had he approached with the script of Kannappa. He also added that his past films did not do well. “Also, my last few films didn’t perform well. Mukesh Kumar Singh brilliantly handled a show based on an Indian epic. Despite Kannappa being his debut feature film as a director, I entrusted him with the responsibility,” he said.
Kannappa box office report
Talking about Kannappa box office collection, the movie took a good start as it made around Rs 9.35 crore on its day one. As per Sacnilk.com, Kannappa has witnessed a dip in numbers on its second day, yet it is stable. The film seems to have made around Rs 7 crore at the box office.

Apart from Vishnu Manchu, Kannappa stars biggies like Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Kajal Aggarwal and others. All of them have powerful cameos to play in the movie. Akshay Kumar plays Lord Shiva while Prabhas plays Rudra.
