Haq Box Office Collection Day 2: Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi’s much-awaited courtroom drama Haq hit the cinema halls on November 7. The movie is a sensitive and emotional tale, developed on the plot of one of India’s most important legal and social debates. The initial response for the movie is good as far as audience reception goes. According to early estimates from Saknilk, Haq minted Rs 1.65 crore approx on day one. The most striking feature of the film is the fact that it depicts not only a court case but also the fight for the rights of women in society. By 12 pm, the second day, Sacnilk reports the box office collection of Haq is Rs 0.62 crore, making the total to rise to Rs 2.27 crore.

The story of the film is inspired by the life and legal struggle of Shah Bano Begum. The case of Shah Bano in the Supreme Court in 1985 was a turning point in Indian history. The verdict given in that particular case said that divorced women of the Muslim community would get maintenance under Section 125 (CrPC). This judgment sparked heated discussions all over the country and it turned out to be a major discussion point on the issue of women’s rights, religious identity, and equality. A petition was filed by Shah Bano Begum’s daughter in the Madhya Pradesh High Court for a ban on the release of the film, but the court rejected the petition and the film was released on schedule.
The storyline of the movie is based on a woman named Shazia Bano, who demands justice from her husband in the 1980s. Her husband marries another woman and does not pay for the kids; hence, she approaches the court.

In order to keep her silent, he applies for triple talaq, which turns into a national debate for and against women. Yami Gautam acts as Shazia in a very simple and strong way. On the other side, Emraan Hashmi as Abbas shows a tussle between society and the law because of his decisions in personal life. Their chemistry and dialogues are commendable, and they provoke the audience. Director Suparn Verma has presented the story in a balanced and sensitive manner. The tone of the film is serious but depicts emotions and hope also. The powerful dialogue delivery, strong acting, and deep story are being liked by the viewers of the film. Critics say, Haq is not just a film; it’s a symbol of the fight for the rights of women and their equality in society.
