Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi’s film, Haq, hit theaters on Friday. Directed by Suparn S. Verma, the film is based on the famous Shah Bano Begum case. The film saw a strong increase in earnings over the weekend, but now its pace has slowed down a bit. Let’s find out the film’s fifth-day collection.
Haq box office collection day 5
According to a report by Sacnilk, Haq grossed approximately Rs 1.25 crore in India on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. With this, the film’s total domestic collection has now reached approximately Rs 11.25 crore (11.25 crore rupees). On Monday, the film’s occupancy rate was approximately 9.70%. The night shows saw the highest footfall (12.91%), followed by 24.69% in the evening shows, 17.43% in the afternoon shows, and only 9.03% in the morning shows.
Although the film’s story tackles a serious and sensitive issue, its slow pace and low entertainment value prevented it from attracting a large audience. Despite this, Yami Gautam’s acting has been widely praised. She wrote on her social media account X (formerly Twitter), “The power of ‘Word of mouth’. No foul-play or any gimmicks. Straight from our hearts to the audience. Even from trade & media perspective, I feel a lot of positivity that they want a film like ‘ HAQ’ to be a success. It’s a rarity & I shall cherish this moment for life.”
Is the story of Haq based on a real life incident?
Haq’s story is based on one of the most controversial cases in the country: Mohammad Ahmed Khan vs. Shah Bano Begum. It is inspired by Jigna Vora’s book, Bano: India’s Daughter. The film begins in 1978, when Shah Bano, a woman, was divorced by her lawyer husband, Abbas. She goes to court seeking justice, and in 1985, the Supreme Court delivered a landmark ruling that Muslim women also have the right to receive maintenance under the law.
The film explores issues such as women’s rights, equality, and social justice in a deeply emotional and serious manner. The brilliant performances of Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi add to the story’s impact.
