A disturbing leaked ICU video of veteran actor Dharmendra has triggered massive outrage, after a hospital staffer secretly filmed him and shared it online. The Deol family, along with several Bollywood celebrities, condemned the shocking breach of privacy and called for greater empathy and accountability.
A deeply upsetting incident involving veteran actor Dharmendra has sparked outrage across the film industry and among fans. A private video of the 88-year-old star in a vulnerable state at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital was secretly recorded by a staff member and shared online. The clip showed Dharmendra in the ICU surrounded by his family, including his first wife Prakash Kaur and their sons Sunny and Bobby Deol. Prakash was seen breaking down in tears, making the leak even more distressing.
The hospital employee who filmed the video without the family’s consent has since been arrested after several complaints. Many celebrities and fans also condemned the violation of privacy, calling it insensitive and unethical and inhumane.
Farah Khan Ali’s Strong Reaction
Among those expressing anger was Farah Khan Ali, daughter of Zarine Khan. She criticised the lack of empathy shown by the person who recorded the clip and those who shared it online. Farah said she was disturbed by the increasing trend of invading a celebrity’s privacy during their most vulnerable moments.
She also connected the incident to her own recent experience when her mother passed away. Instead of offering condolences, some people questioned why Zarine’s last rites were done according to Hindu traditions. Farah said this behaviour showed how “insensitive” people have become.
She wrote: “Are we as a nation so insensitive? Don’t public figures have families and feelings? What happened to humanity?”
Farah urged people to reflect on how they would feel if their own family members were treated this way, saying tragedies spare no one and empathy is the least people can offer.
How Dharmendra’s Family Responded
The leaked video left the Deol family extremely upset. Mumbai Police took quick action and arrested the staff member responsible, while the hospital began an internal inquiry. Sunny Deol was very furious and slammed media outside their home after Dharmendra’s discharge, questioning their lack of ‘shame’ in intruding on their private moments.
Several Bollywood celebs including Madhur Bhandarkar, Karan Johar, and Nikitin Dheer also spoke out, criticising the growing insensitivity of paparazzi culture. This incident follows earlier instances where Hema Malini and Esha Deol slammed false rumours about Dharmendra’s health. Dharmendra has now been discharged and is recovering at home.
