During a recent conversation with Shubhankar Mishra on his podcast on YouTube, Kay Kay Menon recalled the behind-the-scenes moments and shared an incident from the shoot, which was from the song Sajna Ji Vaari Vaari.
The actor talked about the incident and laughed while chatting about his role. He said, “I played a nerdy guy who unknowingly gets high after drinking something spiked.” He added that to make the scene believable, he leaned on director Reema Kagti’s expertise. The actor added, “She was an expert. She gave me a detailed idea.” Once he understood it, his “character just opened up. The song Sajna Ji Vaari Vaari was choreographed by Farah Khan, but Kay Kay did his own steps.
What did Farah Khan ask Kay Kay?
Kay Kay added that Farah Khan came on board the yacht where they were supposed to shoot the dance, and he told Farah not to give him those aerobic-style dance steps. To this, Farah agreed. The actor spontaneously moved with the song, and doing a double-take, Farah Khan stopped in the middle and asked, “Kay Kay, are you drunk? You had some drug?” To this, Kay Kay replied that he was not drunk and convinced her that it was only acting and said, “What they don’t know is that I don’t drink at all.”
The film Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd was released on February 23, 2007. It was directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The film stars Kay Kay Menon, Raima Sen, Shabana Azmi, Boman Irani, Abhay Deol, and Minissha Lamba, among others.
